Second Sunday Sangha: Relational Meditation/Insight Dialogue Practice Group
with Janet Surrey and Annie Hoffman
Come join us for this interpersonal meditation practice~for cultivating~the mindfulness and tranquility of traditional silent meditation in our direct experience with others. As this practice deepens, we can experience a flow of silence and dialogue that enhances loving kindness, compassion, equanimity and non-judgmental awareness in our human relationships in the service of authentic freedom and realization of our deepest connection. There will be alternating periods of solo practice, insight dialogue, and yoga. Come to any or all sessions!

Positive Psychology 101
with Deb Levy
Positive Psychology, founded in 1998 by Dr. Marty Seligman, is one of the fastest growing fields in psychology and is gaining more popularity in the media and in the general population. Research has found that 50% of our happiness is determined by genetics (your happiness set point) 10% by your environment (relationships, job, etc) and 40% is under your control and determined by what you do. While many people are skeptical of this "happiness" craze, there are in fact a range of research based interventions that can be used to help you become happier and more successful. In this workshop you will learn about the science of happiness and how you can apply specific, easy to use positive psychology strategies to your enhance daily life and well being.
Topics to be covered will include goal setting, optimism, savoring, gratitude and how to leverage your strengths to meet your goals.

Deb Levy, CMC, ebra A. Levy, M.Ed., CMC, is an ICF-certified life and business coach specializing in working with small business owners, people in transition and adults with ADD. As part of her business, Coaching is Good, Deb taps the powers of optimism, humor and creativity to facilitate action-oriented coaching groups and workshops for businesses, schools, non-profit organizations and individuals. In all these settings, including her popular "Got Goals" group conducted by teleconference, Deb teaches clients how to use strengths, goal setting and other positive psychology strategies to improve performance and well being. In addition to her coaching work, Deb teaches Positive Psychology at the Tufts Experimental College and was an award-winning teaching fellow at Harvard University, where she taught alongside Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar during the years his Positive Psychology class had the largest enrollment of all classes at Harvard (2006 and 2008). Deb lives in Cambridge, and relies on all her skills and humor to parent her magnificent 12 1/2 year old daughter, Aliya.
Janet Surrey is a clinical psychologist, Founding Scholar of the Jean Baker Miller Training Institute at Wellesley College and member of the Faculty of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy in Boston. A recent graduate of the Community Dharma Leader Training Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, she is currently in training to teach Insight Dialogue.
